I live and work in York, North Yorkshire, and many of my paintings are York and Yorkshire based, focussing on landscape and townscape observations.
I try to discover and present aspects of the landscape - city and country, ancient and modern, built or not - that convey a sense of place, aspects that often go unseen but become apparent if one has time to observe, to look closely. I also look for the unusual in the everyday - trying to create an atypical represesntation of a scene that is familiar to many.
I work mainly in ink and watercolour, charcoal and pastel, and a combination of these media.
